Re:          Annual Registration Fees (Club and Individual) 2012/2013

With the start of 2012 we are wanting to clarify matters relating to 2012/13 Club and Individual Registrations for the period.

Club Registration Fees
We have had some issues during my time at ASA with some clubs being delinquent as it relates to the payment of their Annual Club Registration Fee.  While we have been somewhat relaxed on this subject it has created some issues. 

With this in mind, this year we will be raising an invoice on 1^st May 2012 for each club to cover the Annual Club Registration Fee ($302 - comprised of SNZ $128, and ASA $174).  This fee will need to be paid by 31^st May or no swimmers from your club will be able to be entered in any meets.

We have had it pointed out to us by SNZ that it is a condition of their Constitution that competitive swimmers must be a member of affiliated clubs in order for their membership to be considered valid.  If a club has not paid their affiliation fee then, in SNZ’s view, they are not an affiliated club and therefore members are ineligible to compete.

SNZ High Performance Rewards Incentive Levy
It is probably unknown to most of you but for several years SNZ has been imposing on each region a $5.50 levy from each competitive swimmer for high performance purposes.  This levy is utilised by SNZ for the purpose of meeting various payments to swimmers who break Open National Records. 

The ASA, uniquely, is the only region in the country which has carried the cost of this levy without passing it on to our clubs for collection or payment.  As detailed in our letter of 27 October 2011, this matter was reviewed in some detail by the ASA Board and it was determined that this coming financial year (2012/2013) we will pass the levy cost on to each club for collection together with the annual registration fee.  This will mean that for the 2012/13 season the competitive registration fee for each swimmer will be $82.50:

Payment of Registration Fees
As per previous years the ASA Registration period is 1^st May 2012 through 30^th April 2013.  Individual Registration Fees should be paid prior to the end of May 2012.

It would be nice if we could run the sport without charging and collecting registration fees but we can’t.  I trust that the above clarifies our expectations with sufficient warning that you can provide suitable notice to your club members with sufficient time that they can plan in advance for the changed fee structure.
